ARV Clinic & Outreach Programme
The Zithulele ARV Outreach programme seeks to increase the number of sites at which ARVs are available, to augment government resourcesand spread awareness of HIV prevention and treatment within its catchment area. Our aim is to meet our self-imposed target of getting ARVs to an extra 110 patients per month (1,300 per year) within the next two years. In other words, we want to provide accessible HIV/AIDS treatment to all who need it within our catchment area.
To date, Jabulani has assisted the hospital (which already has its own ARV clinic) to establish two outreach clinics at Mapuzi and Ngcwanguba locations. In 2010 we will provide logistical assistance for the down-referral of patients to up to eight peripheral clinics, making ARVs accessible to a much bigger number of people. A large donated parkhome has made a tremendous difference at the overcrowded Ncgwanguba clinic site. We have also raised the funds to employ two extra counsellors and supply the programme with stationery and essential medical equipment.
But we still need more funds! We would like to employ more counselors to lead support groups in the surrounding clinics and are in desperate need of a dedicated pharmacist.
